I am writing this blog not to gather publicity but to get my thoughts out. First and foremost, I am not an English major, therefore i will apologize in advance for my writing skills. I am only a regular person, who grew up not having much, but a bit more than the average. I am currently a student in college but also hold two jobs in order to help my fam and pay my own personal bills. But enough about me seeing that i don't want to be known, let's get into what i want to talk about.
As i look around at my peers and classmates, we are all surrounded by the media. From music, to movies, television shows, magazines, internet, etc. These things influence us greatly and not always for the better. Celebrities obviously play a huge role in influencing our thoughts and decisions because they get to us through these avenues. But who are these celebrities? Personally, i believe they are people like us who just have more money which in turn brings them more power which in turn gets them more publicity which in turn gets them more fame. But alot of them had to start out like us. Many of us might say they are lucky, but in my opinion majority of celebrities aren't. They have about 100% more pressure on them than we could ever imagine. They hardly get sleep because they are always working, producing, etc. They are hounded by the press, meaning they can't do anything without not having that posted on some magazine or site on the internet, and further more they are ostracized from the general public, inadvertently creating a bubble of only a certain amount people they can associate themselves with. They have "everything" they could possibly want ( my friend's words), but I believe they don't have the freedom to just be. Majority of the celebrity population understands this and drowns themselves in liquor and drugs to escape their sorrows and stresses. They are not superhumans, they are ordinary people who happen to have money, power, and fame, and with that comes many other responsibilities that us ordinary folk can't even begin to understand...until the next blog :)
